Default Monarch/Matriarch CC

Monarch/Matriarch CC
"My voice is mightier than your sword."
I made this as a CC that has a logical approach to building structures in 10 seconds or less and siege weaponry that doesn't ruin lore by operating all on it's own.

[For skimmers]
Example skills are at the bottom.

New Stuff

Class: Monarch
The monarch is a commander and besieger class.
They create drones to build stationary obstructions and elevations, place mines and trap a single wurm as artillery to influence the battlefield in their favor.
Some obstructions block foes or projectiles, while others offer effects to foes or allies in their range.
The monarch himself uses target paintings to make his wurm attack at range and uses a half-ranged weapon to attack foes.

Communication offers the inherit ability to get around the reduced damage low level creatures deal to higher level creatures and also has skills to take full advantage of this with low level mites causing area damage, it also has skills to guide and command your drones.
Rumble Speak offers wurms and target paintings to make your wurms deal damage, it's an attribute that supports your damage dealing while you can sit back/do something else.
Whisper Speak offers ranged hate, using projectile blocking to stop attacks and cripple to prevent ranged foes from kiting.
Song Speak offers melee hate, using movement and attack triggered negative effects to discourage foes from getting close and blind to mess up foes that still do so.

Creature type: Monarch Creations
Monarch have the ability to amass quite the force, by dropping eggs and bait they summon a creature, many of those creatures also come with 1 or more constructions, that they build or that are built for them.

You are limited to 8 drones and 1 worm at a time, there is no limit to how many mines you can place or how many constructions you can build, but without a drone attending to them, constructions will fall apart soon enough and mines expire after 180 seconds.

Lore:
Drones: Are simple social bugs, that build and repair constructions. They flee when taking damage making them pretty worthless in combat.
Wurms: Are large blind creatures from deep underground, without a trap they are disobedient, the trap makes them immobile and unable to use senses other than your target paintings.
Mite Mines: Are small burrowing insects, monarchs use them as hidden bombs.
Constructions: are creations of web/wax and rubble, not very durable or artistic, but drones build them in no time, which is what counts during a battle.

Health:
Drones: Base 40 + 20 per level.
Wurms: Base 80 + 30 per level.
Mite Mines: Always have 60 max health.
Constructions: Base 30 + 30 per level.
Special:
When a wurm's health reaches 0 it dies, falling and destroying it's wurm trap.
When a wurm trap's health reaches 0, the wurm is free, it makes 1 attack on it's master if they are in range, then disappears underground.

When a construction has not been repaired by a drone in the last 10 seconds, it suffers 1 health degeneration.
When a construction is below 100% of max health, it also suffers 1 health degeneration.
This increases to 4 degeneration while a construction is below 50 of its max health and 8 when below 25% of max health.
Armor:
Drones: Base 15 + 5 per level.
Wurms: Base 25 + 5 per level.
Mite Mines: Always have 40 armor.
Constructions: Always have 60 armor.
Special:
Constructions have 15 additional armor against slashing and piercing damage.
Attacks:
Drones: Melee, 1-<drone level> slashing damage, attack time of 3 seconds.
Wurms: Radar Range, 6-6 +3 per level, damage type and recharge vary depending on the type of wurm.
Mite Mines: Mite mines do not attack, they use do use a touch skill.
Constructions: Constructions do not attack.
Special:
When drones take damage, they stop attacking/constructing/repairing and run away from the source 3 seconds, if they where assigned to a construction they will go back to it when they finish fleeing.

Wurms are blind, they will not attack foes by themselves, you need to use target paintings to guide their attacks.
Wurms cannot attack foes in their earshot while trapped, this does not apply to the vengeance attack that occurs when a wurm is freed.

A mite mine's touch skill, causes it to sacrifice 100% of it's health and has the effect stated in the kill that created the mite, if this skill is interrupted or locked the mite still sacrifices health, but the skill has no effect.
Affected By:
Drones: All effects normally, are treated as fleshy but do not leave corpses.
Wurms: All effects except blindness(they are blind by nature), are fully fleshy and leave exploitable corpses.
Mite Mines: Are affected by all non-fleshy effects normally, are non-fleshy and do not leave corpses.
Constructions: Cannot be affected, by any effects except burning and can also not be healed. They are non-fleshy and do not leave corpses.
special:
When buried a mite mine cannot be targeted, or affected by anything.
When a mite mine is buried near another, they will attack each other, even if they are on the same side.

Burning lasts 50% longer when applied to a construction.
Drones nearby a damaged allied construction will become assigned to repair it, each repairing drone generates 3 health regeneration.
Mechanic: Constructing
The monarch uses item spells to drop markers, marking locations to build constructions.
Anyone(even foes) can carry the markers around once they have been dropped, but all markers destroy themselves after a small amount of time.
Drone eggs:
Drone eggs hatch into drones, even if someone is carrying them.
When a drone egg hatches, if the drone inherently builds something the egg shell will be the marker.
A hatching drone is always assigned to it's own marker.
When you drop a drone egg created by a foe it is destroyed, allied drone eggs can be carried and dropped at will.

Wurm bait:
A wurm will surface where its wurm bait is even is someone is carrying it, when a wurm surfaces the bait is destroyed.
When a wurm surfaces and there is no trap around it's bait, all adjacent creates are knocked down and take 30 damage.
When a wurm surfaces in a trap, it becomes trapped until that trap is destroyed
Drones assign themselves to allied markers in their area, when they are not already assigned.
Drones assigned to a maker will follow creatures carrying that marker, if that creature is a foe they will also attack that creature.

When a drone wants to build a marker, it will pick it up and take it to the nearest place where there is enough room to build it.
There is room for a construction when: on all 4 sides for some1 can pass and there are no creatures that are not drones in the way.
When checking if there is room, drones ignore obstructions they can walk on as both creatures and as impassable areas.

When a drone starts building an construction the marker is destroyed and replaced by a level 0 version of that obstruction.
While being built a construction gains levels and expands to its full size.
If a creature moves into the room a construction needs, the expanding size of the construction will push that creature out.

1 Drone takes 10 seconds to build an obstruction.
For each additional drone that helps, the remaining time is halved.
When any participating drone builds faster than normal, the % are added up and deducted off the remaining time, NOT the base time.

Construction types:
Pillar:
Room needed: marker location(creature sized)
Pillars are non walkable straight up constructions, they will block projectiles but are a bit too thin for the whole team to shelter behind.
Pillars often have an area effect, buffing or debuffing, foes or allies in range.

Mess:
Room needed: nearby marker
A mess is a sloppy rummage of a construction, some are walkable some aren't, how high a mess is depends on the visual appearance, so only some of them are fit to shelter you from projectiles.
The point of a mess is usually a cheap obstruction
When messes overlap each other the newest mess destroys a part of the oldest.

Mound:
Room needed: area of marker
Mounds are large walkable platforms, low at the edges high in the middle.
Their point is to overlap messes, acting as bridges; or to offer a somewhat elevated position from which [wiki]Bows[/wiki] automatically have increased range and damage.
When mounds overlap each other, for each over lapping part, the highest mound for that part is the only one that is built.
When mounds overlap messes they will destroy that part of the mess.

Worm Trap:
Room needed: nearby marker
Worm traps are straight up encasements, holding a wurm that is half out of the ground.
Counting the wurm they are high and wide enough to block projectiles efficiently, but the wurm cannot attack creatures in it's earshot, so the use of a trapped wurm is somewhat limited if you are that close to it.
Wurm traps destroy any parts of mounds or messes they overlap.

Lore:
Ages ago, before the great scarab plague ravaged Elona, the area around the first city was inhabited by a flourishing civilisation.
Their secrets of their advancement while others still hunted with spears had died with them, which to an Asura is only a minor problem; from the fading memory of ghosts and spirits the Asura garnered the magic techniques used to domesticate insects.
Refining the art with their own research, mystical and arcane knowledge, a cheap and quick alternative to the complicated time, energy and cost intensive golems was found, to preform variant and menial tasks such as agriculture and construction, instead of the golems unchanging function as guards or soldiers.
(Not an Asura only class, though they are it's patrons, meaning most skill trainers will be Asura)

Equipment

Energy:
Base: 25 at 3 pips
Monarchs do not get a focus item to improve this.

Armor:
Base: 70AL
(+10 while not moving)

I'm not sure on how they should look yet, though I'm edging towards Kurzic Priest/Count looks, it has something quite majestic and authoritarian.

Weapons:
The monarch carries a sizable (and sorta odd looking) cage, inside there is a nest of either tiny weavers or small scarabs.
These cages are 2 handed, the left hand caries it form the handle at the top, the right hand is used for a drum like piece on the right side of the cage.
I'm calling them order weapons for lack of a better therm.

The order weapons come in plenty of shapes, sizes and materials with drums, tambourines and stringed instruments coming out of the side.

When attacking you hold the cage, open, towards an enemy in half-range and play the instrument, 1 by 1 the larva then come out and attach themselves to the target foe and start dealing damage to it.
Dependant on attack speed, you shooting larva takes a little time, before you have all of them on your target.
Both the larva's attack, as well as the rate at which you apply them to a foe is affected by attack speed increases on you.
For ease of logic, scarab larva can fly and weaver grubs can jump infinite distances.
The attaching happens like shooting larva at the foe in an arch, takes a flight time before the attacking can start and needs clear line of sight, missed larva will come back to the cage before being shot at target foe again.
When you stop attacking the larva come back into the cage.
Only if the foe moves out of your half-range do the larva com back, that foe can be attacking you in melee and would have to run for a bit before your larva let go of him.
A oder weapon is the only weapon that does not have you attack using the weapon, but the weapon attacks by itself, there for order weapons do not grant adrenaline when any of their attacks hit.

There are 2 types of order weapons:
Whisperer Nests and Singer Nests

Whisperer Nests are for weavers, which deal piercing damage and allow for the use of weaver type drones.
Singer Nests are for scarabs, which deal slashing damage and allow for the use of scarab type drones.

If you do not have the right kind of order weapon equipped, your drones will not build, repair or attack anything; they will just wander around and run away when taking damage.
If you do not have the right order weapon equipped you can not use item spells for the corresponding drone skill.

True, but the reference isn't male/female; it's Queen, Patriarch != Queen.
*cough*which u might have known after reading a little more of the post*cough*

Monarch is however problematic to shorten, do you think people would mind playing a male Matriarch? Most of them wouldn't know what it meant anyway.

needs more synergy (ie, skills that can be worked together) with other classes in gw

I mean, if this is the class, it deducts from the whole purpose in gw, to utilize 2 classes together effectively

The idea of summoning siege wurms n stuff like that (havent really bothered to read it all) would be near impossible to effictively coordinate into the game and make sense with current gw lore.

I suggest using the following:

Puppets
Slaves/Soldiers
Machines
Magical Devices

As minions^^, I don't like how you use Bugs and Insects as Minions.
I suggest what I did to my Scholar, before it was the Strategist, a Wizard who Manipulated Nature(not the foresty-kind) then I added a more fitting role then turned it into a Scholar, a Military Strategist who used Infantry Puppets to Buff Allies and Hire Assassin Puppets to kill Foes(not the Prof, and without use of mobbing), unlike the the MM used for Mobbing.

I think I'll be trashing my Avatar, not that unique anymore, I really loved the background but did not devlier anything new.
I'll skip to my Artificer, but I still may improve my Avatar.
After the Artificer I'll make my Acrobat.
I think most of my new CCs start with "A" XD.
And their Titles mostly have a starting "S" ^^.
Sorry busy playing other games and I didn't feel like fixing my CCs for a long period of time.
I am too lazy to fix it XD.
And also I am fighting a "8 weeks old runny nose and cough" XD.
For now I'll post, still don't feel like fixing it XD.

Actually in GWEN, the Char have siege devourers.
The Monarch uses weaker types of insects, so that why will be balanced as a class.

I'm not suggesting those be completely removed from GW; I'm usign elements already present in GW lore to make a possible refinment of it for GW2.
If anything there's be more of them; cuz, what would make a better Monarch enemy type than wild scarab or weaver?

The drones are types of insects that in current GW lore already come in social structures, many of those are named socially like scarab queens and nest builders. So its not not such an immense twist to have those types be in servitude.

The seige wurms in that crystal desert mission, are already stationary artillery with a really long range; so lore wise I don't see a problem.
However, those are surface wurms, for the Monarch I'm using deep wurms, those have different models to show being a different type of wurm, they are also 3 times as small; so they don't fill up the entire screen or need too much poligons.

What I do think is a problem is the weapon, the idea of flying and jumping larva of both scarabs and weavers is new and kind of silly though and in no way connected to their current state in GW.

I considered almost anything to use for building; I arrived at bugs, as lore wise the most correct solution.

I mean, how can slaves or soldiers build stuff in a few seconds; wel ok some can, but if they are trained that well, why would you not use them for fighting?! Even a gimpy warrior is going to beat a bound, blind wurm that can't attack unless you use sonar to show it a target.

Machines have the problem that they are situational, even if I made a class advanced enough to create self operated artillery, that artillery won't have eyes or ears, so unlike the wurms you won't be able to paint targets for them.
The most efficient way to use machines I can think of is to place traps when you want them to shoot, which is kind of sub optimal.
Another way is to operate them yourself, but people didn't like my stalker that operated their own ballista.

I considered magical teleportation which was really great for building things, and offered cool bonuses like the ability to create short range portals, or escape; but I could not find any way to do artillery with magical teleportation that would make sense and I like artillery a lot, so I dumped that version of the idea.
I also considered golems, but why bother to make golems build or throw rocks over huge distances, 60% of the class would have ended up as rip off MM's unless I destroyed current GW lore.

HOWEVER, while I was thinking what to write about why puppets don't make good builders, I realized I hadn't looked at a side of that yet.

Puppets are animated by magic, be it by possessing objects or by making a magical construct that reacts to movements of a object the user can hold.

That means a puppet doesn't need to be a 'puppet' unlike a properly constructed golem, puppets are made of expendable materials, stuff you just happen to find and when animated trough possession don't even need to have their parts attached, they just float in a way that emulates the body of the person possessing it.
This is the same for battlefield constructions, you could magically shape sand and stone to have mounds to shoot from on and half rounds to hide behind, come up from the ground.
When the battle is done, those constructions stand up and follow you to the next battle. Where you send them in, so they can be offensive and deal damage, but are not that sturdy in the animated form.

That might make a pretty cool constructor class too, I could do something with it, but for now I'll state that I think the bugs would be cute, they may not be fuzzy but they are small and start scooting about all over when they take damage.

Well I did limit the use of rumble speak, by other classes yea.
You will need 2 drones to trap a wurm, sacrificing at least 4 skill slots to make it work.
In that it is kind of like beast mastery. However, you do not need attribute levels in song or whisper to have the drones build a wurm trap.
You just need a order weapon, which is kind of annoying though, perhaps I should make it an offhand or mainhand weapon, so you can combine it with other classes their things.

For synergy, mites help trappers, and are not easily interruptible(but unlike traps are spells making them affected by all kinds of other effects)
Dusty Mound would be the perfect partner for [wiki]Slippery Ground[/wiki] even with 0 in song speak and 4 or more in water magic.
This is true for many constructions, they will be effective with little or no points in the attribute, they will just be more easily destroyed, because of their low level, offering great opportunities for synergy, except you will have to wait for the construction to be finished and need to hold a order weapon while doing so, the idea was that makes it more balanced in secondaries using Monarch skills, but it might just be annoying.

Lastly you can use wurm bait without wanting to build a trap, but for the AoE knockdown and armor ignoring damage.
